After giving the audiences, Satyameva Jayate, filmmaker Milap Zaveri is back to entertain the masses with his next, Marjaavaan, which he calls an out and out entertainer and a massy film.
In his recent interview, Milap spoke about the inspirations behind the film and projecting Sidharth Malhotra in a never-seen-before avatar. Giving out just enough overview about the film, Milap said, “ Well, it is a massy action filmangry, powerful and emotional along the lines of those made by Mukul Anand, Subhash Ghai and Rajkumar Santoshi. Marjaavaan is a love story with lots of action, dialoguebaazi and some beautiful tender moments. It also has a midget villain in Riteish’s character, who has a dark sense of humour,” in an interview to Mumbai Mirror.
Milap’s inspiration behind the film has left us all the more excited for its release. Milap has revealed, “ Sid’s character( Raghu) is modelled on the lines of Amitabh Bachchan in Deewar, Sunny Deol in Jeet and Jackie Shroff in Hero. Raghu is a rugged, intense guy who walks around with a match-stick in his mouth and spouts some smart one-liners. Raghu is like a homage to Amit ji’s Vijay in Deewar. Vijay played around with a rope, Raghu with a maachis, which is an indication of how volatile he is.“
While Sidharth’s last few outings may not have been as successful as the actor wanted them to be, Milap say’s he has full faith in the Ek Villain actor and he was never skeptical about casting him in Marjaavaan. Speaking about Sidharth’s low career phase, Milap said, “ Shahid’s (Kapoor) last few films hadn’t opened well and then Kabir Singh brought in record numbers. Likewise, for Sushant. Sonchiriya didn’t work, but Chhichhore is doing wonders. Everyone goes through a low phase and needs someone to believe in them. Sid has a strong voice and is a dramatic performer. The audience loved him in Ek Villain and I hope they will like him in my film, too.”
A collaboration between Milap Zaveri, Nikkhil Advani and Bhushan Kumar, Marjaavaan, features Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Rakul Preet Singh and Tara Sutaria among others in pivotal roles.
The film is all set to hit the theaters on the 22nd of November.
