Sidharth Malhotra is all geared up for the release of his out and out action drama Marjaavaan directed by Milan Milap Zaveri. The film stars Sid as an angry young man who is stronger than one can imagine, breaks bones and is looked after. The film reminds the era of ‘Angry Young Man’ in Bollywood and Sid recently during the promotions called Marjaavaan an homage to that era.
Marjaavan stars Tara Sutaria, Riteish Deshmukh and Rakul Preet Singh in pivotal parts alongside Sid. The film is reminiscent of the era in the Hindi films when the hero fighting a 100 men single-handedly looked fascinating and Sid agrees with the same.
When asked if he relates to such a character since the young idea of action is different, He said, “I am a big fan of action heroes and our Indian action films, where the protagonist does the action with a lot of flare and style. Milap and I are big fans of Bollywood cinema of the seventies and the eighties, and through this film, we pay tribute to that era. My character is larger than life, and since the film is essentially a love story, all his actions are driven by emotions. We packaged the film in present times with actions and dialogue-baazi that are retro,”
Further talking about his debut with the Student Of The Year and doing films like Ek Villain, Brothers and Baar Baar Dekho; later the actor spoke about his successes and failures.
“It isn’t rocket science to understand if a film is working at the box office or not. Since the time I came into the business, there have been films that made money and won me praise, and then, especially with my last couple of releases, things did not turn out the way we expected. But thanks to the bumpy ride I have had in my career, I have learned not to do certain things. It is also true that in films, there is no set formula to success,” Sid said.
Marjaavaan is set to hit the big screens on November 15 this year and the trailers and songs have already made their way to audiences hearts.
