Maine Pyaar Kiya: Bhagyashree Wants Alia Bhatt To Reprise Her Role & Either Of These Actors To Play Salman Khan

The 1989 cult romance, Maine Pyaar Kiya from the Rajshri banner was one of the biggest catalysts the catapulted to the humongous fandom of its lead actors Salman Khan and Bhagyashree. While Salman Khan never looked back. Bhagyashree, on the other hand, quit acting altogether after her dream debut!

And now, as the Sooraj Barjatiya film completes 30 years of its release, Bhagyashree was asked if she would like to see a remake of the film! While the actress was quick to admit that she is not a huge fan of remakes she would definitely like to see Raazi actress Alia Bhatt recreate the iconic character of Suman.

Speaking to Hindustan Times in a recent interview, the former actress said, “Honestly, I am not a big fan of remakes and feel some things need to be left untouched. There is a lot of pressure on those making and performing it, to be compared constantly with what has been declared a cult film, like Sholay (1975), Don (1978) or Mughal-e-Azam (1960). I have a soft heart for Alia Bhatt, she’s fantastic and portrays innocence through her eyes, and that’s the way I look at Suman.”

Meanwhile, Bhagyashree also said that she would like to see either Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh step into Salman Khan’s shoes for the character of Prem.

For those living under the rock, the 1989 release, Maine Pyaar Kiya was a story of innocent friendship that catapults into one of the most heart-melting love stories with Salman Khan as Prem and Bhagyashree as Suman.

Maine Pyaar Kiya also featured seasoned actors like Reema Lagoo, Alok Nath, Rajeev Verma and Ajit Vachani in pivotal roles alongside Monish Bahl.
