Meghna Gulzar has a way of turning real-life stories into cinema. Talvar drew from the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case; Chhapaak brought Laxmi Agarwal’s extraordinary story to the screen, while Sam Bahadur chronicled the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

Now, Daayra joins that list, another story inspired by true events but one whose origins remain shrouded in secrecy.
