Anubhav Sinha and Ayushmann Khurrana are all geared up for their social drama, Article 15, to hit the screens the next week. While everyone is quite enthused for the offering, especially after the hard-hitting trailer, there is a certain section of elements trying to backlash for its take on casteism in the society. Now, it is also learnt that religious outfit, Karni Sena, is getting into the drama over the movie’s release.
As the trailer suggests that the plot revolves around the murder of two girls, which has a caste angle relating to it. Several organisations already took an objection for portraying Brahmins in a negative light. Earlier, director Anubhav Sinha was reported to receive discontent from Parshuram Sena. Now, according to latest reports that are flowing in, Karni Sena too, threatening to protest against Article 15‘s release, by assembling outside the theatres. The cinema owners are contacting local police to secure protection during screening.
The report in DNA states, “Anubhav has been addressing sensitive subjects in the society through his movies — be it Mulk and the upcoming film. As it nears its date with cinemas, he has been getting threat mails and calls from different stratas of the society, particularly the upper bracket of the age-old social structure”, as per the source close to Movie.
Article 15 is slated to release on 28th June, 2019.
