The trailer of Good Newwz starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh was launched in Mumbai today. The star cast along with Producer of the film, Karan Johar was also present for the event.
At the trailer launch, Karan Johar was asked about pay disparity and how his production house handles it. Pay disparity has been a serious issue in Bollywood as it differences in the pay of an actor and actresses has been going on since the inception of the film industry in India.
At the launch, KJo said, “We at Dharma Productions have always maintained the ethos of actually making sure that everyone, and I include men and women, artists and technicians and everyone are paid solidly for their craft, art their ability and worth.”
When Akshay Kumar was asked his views on pay disparity, he answered, “I’m doing other films with a lot of other corporates, so they finalise everything. I agree with what Karan said. He is absolutely right. That’s the way it should be, in future also it will be in the same way.”

Recently, Bhumi Pednekar revealed in an interview with Pinkvilla that for one of her films, she was paid 5 per cent of what her male co-star was given. Earlier, even Deepika Padukone shared that she said no to a film because of a vast difference in the fees that was offered to her compared to the male star.
