Before Kesari, Akshay’s PadMan released in Japan and earned more than 5 crores in its 7 week run. Apart from Akshay’s films, Bollywood films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, PK, English Vinglish, 3 Idiots, Om Shanti Om and more have got the love of the Japanese audience.
Kesari released at the Indian Box Office on March 21, 2019 and got one of the biggest openings. Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Karan Johar, the film also had Parineeti Chopra in a small but important role.
Talking about playing a small role in the film Parineeti Chopra earlier said, “Everybody knows ‘Kesari’ is about the Battle of Saragarhi. It’s a boys film, but at very crucial and emotional moments of the film, character of Akshay Kumar thinks about his dead wife (played by me). It’s very cool love story that is woven into the story of battle. I have a very small role in the film, but it is one of those films that I wanted to be a part of.”
