Rating: 3.5/5 Stars (Three and half stars)
Music Director/s: Amaal Mallik, Meet Bros Anjjan, Sachin-Jigar
Hero starring Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty is all set to hit theaters soon. The action-romance genre of the film gives it a good chance to come up with a music album that is both romantic and upbeat.
Main Hoon Hero Tera – Salman Khan version – Hero Music Review
The title track of the film was introduced in a glimpse in the trailers and was impressive then itself. Salman Khan literally sang his heart out in Kick but well, he nearly shocked us in the Main Hoon Hero Tera version. The romantic song seems to have been sung with full emotions by the star, thus making it completely lovable. This song is a classic example of the music and lyrics blending extremely well. Amaal Mallik seems to be progressing good as a composer and hits the right notes with the title track.
The other version of this song has been sung by Armaan Mallik. Even though this version may be more technically correct since Armaan is a trained singer, somehow Salman’s version has much more feel and sounds quite genuine.
Yadaan Teriyaan – Hero Music Review
Yadaan Teriyaan sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a sad song from the film that rides high on feel. Interestingly, the song is not somber with its beats and composer Jassi Katyal surprises us with that. He makes a good use of percussion as well as electric guitars but it is Rahat’s soulful voice that conveys the actual pain. Lyrics by Kumaar are brilliant and enough to create the longing and effect of the loss of love. This song will certainly touch those who have recently broken their hearts and missing their loved ones. Flute portions in between sections too are impressive.
This song also comes in another version which is a duet by Shipra Goyal and Dev Negi. Surprisingly, this version too sounds beautiful. In fact, I loved the duet much more than the original.
Dance Ke Legend Hum – Hero Music Review
Every album needs one club song and Dance Ke Legend tries to become that for Hero. Even though hit composers of Meet Bros Anjjan compose this party track, they lack their usual flavor. The song is upbeat enough but the lyrics don’t make much sense. The beats too are typical and quite repetitive making it a song that seems to bring some deja-vu feeling. This song seems to be an unnecessary addition in the otherwise decent album.
Khoya Khoya – Hero Music Review
I get little jitters of joy when I read Mohit Chauhan’s name in the credits or a song. And that’s what happened when I saw Khoya Khoya‘s credits. To add to this, the music has been composed by Sachin-Jigar so I was expecting the track to bring something new. Unfortunately, Khoya Khoya let me down. Why? The song has a striking similarity to Heropanti‘s Rabba Rabba which was also sung by Mohit Chauhan. Other than the similar portions, the song could have been a much better composition as it has a very North or a Hill side folk feel to it.
O Khuda – Hero Music Review
Amaal Mallik seems to be growing as a composer. The 24 year old music director is definitely showing some good skills with his compositions for the Hero soundtrack. After the title track, Mallik sings and composes O Khuda. The female vocals are led by Palak Muchchal. With the soulful lyrics written by Kumaar, Mallik shows his magic as he puts the song low key with minimum instruments at use. It instantly touches your heart and is expected to make a good impression in the film as well.
Jab We Met – Hero Music Review
Jab We Met is a completely signature Sachin-Jigar composition, a la ‘Haseena Tu Kameena‘ of Happy Ending with a more desi feel. The lyrics by Niranjan Iyengar are quirky and expected to make the song popular. Singers Rahul Pandey and Shalmali Kholgade seem to completely enjoy the mood of the song as they croon at much ease. It is a peppy number but not worth listening to as an audio track. As a video it would definitely be an interesting watch.
The Last Word – Hero Music Review
The music album of Hero is quite enjoyable. Being an action romance film, the soundtrack seems complete with its romantic as well as somber tracks. My picks from the album are ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera‘, ‘Yadaan Teriyaan‘ and ‘O Khuda‘. I am going with a 3.5/5 for this album.
