The Dirty Picture Nets Rs. 9-10 Cr At Friday Box-Office
Update: The Hindi version of The Dirty Picture netted Rs. 8.5 crore on Friday, while the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film netted another Rs. 1 crore approx.
The mood in the trade is jubilant, thanks to the excellent initial of a medium star-cast film, The Dirty Picture. Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar have never been known as stars who command an opening. Even if Emraan Hashmi, who also plays a leading role in the film, were to be considered a star who sometimes ensures an enviable opening, he seems to have surpassed himself this time. For, the opening day’s collections of The Dirty Picture were better than those of Emraan’s Murder 2.
The Dirty Picture Friday Box-Office: Circuit-Wise Collections
Although the first day’s figures are still coming in, the estimate is that The Dirty Picture has netted Rs. 9- 10 crore in India. Friday in Gujarat ended at nearly Rs. 90 lakh while Saurashtra recorded a net collection of Rs. 20 lakh. Delhi-U.P. may have contributed Rs. 1.75 crore while East Punjab, over Rs. 80 lakh. C.P. Berar, C.I. and Rajasthan threw up impressive figures for the woman-oriented film with early estimates suggesting Rs. 50 lakh, Rs. 39 lakh and Rs. 45 lakh respectively.
