Eyes follows a five-member team that is committed to preventing stalking and crimes of passion (and obsession) against women. Central to the story is software called Eyes, which monitors the perpetrators, profiles them, and helps prevent crime. The core team comprises two police officers, Tina and Justin; a software developer, Vidya; and two mental health professionals, Ayesha and Tanvi. The series takes four different cases and examines the consequences: a photographer’s obsession with an actress; a supermarket employee forced into a toxic relationship with her abusive boyfriend; a narcissistic IAS officer and his control-freak nature; and a girl who’s forced to elope and marry an abusive and alcoholic man.

Reasons to Watch Eyes

1. A Strong Female-Centric Cast

The series has predominantly women as its central characters and is driven by their trials and tribulations. Every character is well written and has been given equal weightage. They are relatable and feel like someone who is familiar. The characters feel real, and they fit their roles/social strata perfectly in both appearance and performance. Each character- the victim, the perpetrator, or the law enforcer- has their own personal demons, internal struggles, and flaws.

2. A Fresh Take On Stalking And A Nonlinear Screenplay

The freshness of the story is the series’ high point, hitherto not attempted. The series opens with a shocker and sets the tone for the rest of the series. It dives head-on into the issue of stalking and the related crime of passion. The interesting bit about the screenplay is its non-linear nature. Each episode starts with a particular case, the dominant story of the episode. The other cases are seamlessly woven into the plot and take precedence in the forthcoming episodes. The series starts as a slow burn but grows on you with its steady dose of twists and turns.

3. Manu Ashokan’s Controlled Direction

Manu Ashokan’s direction is controlled. He maintains a consistent pace and effectively creates a thriller atmosphere. There is maturity in handling the violence and emotions. Nothing is hyper or over the top. His handling of a tricky premise and the multiple plots is laudable. It’s his treatment of the characters and the technical information that makes the plot believable.

4. Kani Kusruti & Jaffer Idukki Stand Out

Every actor has delivered a top-notch performance. The acting is controlled and devoid of any over-the-top drama. One can relate to the characters’ pain or angst. Kani Kasruti, as the righteous and understated police officer, and Nikhila and Shruti, as the mental health experts and app developers, bring credibility to their roles. They are restrained and mature in handling a range of emotions. Prabhu, as the only male member of the team, brings a warm and calming presence. He binds the team together and is sometimes also the conscience keeper. Riyaa, as the fiery and outspoken psychologist, is charming and effective.

The supporting cast has also pitched in with a superior performance. They look the part and shine in their moments. Special mention for Dev Mohan, the manipulative IAS officer. His steely presence and controlled aggression leave an impact. Saniya, as his bereaved wife, brings out her pain and helplessness effectively. It’s Jaffer Idukki and his Praise The Lord! Act that’s the show-stealer. He’s calm, sleazy, eerie, and menacing all rolled into one. Equally menacing is Vasu Bose (the star-struck photographer). He is understated right through but pulls his punch at the end. His act as the avenging lover done by the Eyes team is terrific.

5. Nail-biting Final Act

The final episode needs a special mention. The multiple, twisted plotlines dovetail beautifully in the final episode. And it’s nothing short of a high-pitched thriller. The pacing shifts to top gear, and the tension creates an edge-of-your-seat experience! It has elements of a murder mystery and a suspense thriller at gunpoint. The resolution at the end is typical. The victims are caught, the personal battles are resolved, and all is well with team Eyes. But it’s not over yet! A phone call at the end reveals that there’s a case of Jessy and her alcoholic husband that’s still unresolved.
