From Special Ops and Khakee: The Bihar Chapter to Tanvi The Great and Bhay, Karan Tacker has steadily expanded his repertoire with characters that demand a different look, personality and performance each time.
Karan Tacker is entering an interesting phase in his acting career. Over the years, the actor has consciously moved towards characters that allow him to experiment with his image and explore different genres. His OTT journey, in particular, has seen him take on roles that are far removed from one another, establishing him as a performer who isn’t afraid to change his appearance or screen persona for a part.
Karan Tacker’s Changing Roles: From Special Ops To Tanvi The Great
His digital journey took a significant turn with Special Ops, where he played Farooq Ali, an undercover agent in Neeraj Pandey’s espionage thriller. The role brought a more restrained and action-oriented side of Tacker to the screen. He returned as Farooq in Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story and later in Special Ops 2, making the character an important part of his OTT filmography.

Tacker followed it up with Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, once again working in the crime and policing space but playing a very different character. As IPS officer Amit Lodha, he was part of the intense clash between the police and criminal world at the centre of the series. The role required him to move away from the polished image audiences had previously associated with him and adopt a more grounded, authoritative persona.
What makes Tacker’s recent choices particularly interesting is that he has not stayed within one particular genre. In Tanvi The Great, his first major feature-film role, he played Captain Samar Raina. The part gave him another opportunity to step into a uniformed character, but in a completely different setting and emotional landscape from his earlier work.
Bhay: Karan Tacker’s Shift To The Supernatural
Then came Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery, where Tacker took on perhaps one of his most distinct roles yet. Playing paranormal investigator Gaurav Tiwari, he entered a completely different world from the espionage and police dramas he had previously been associated with. The role required a different physicality and performance style, while the show’s mystery-driven narrative gave him another opportunity to lead a project around a character unlike those he had played before. Bhay premiered in 2025 with Tacker in the lead role.
Bhay Season 2: Karan Tacker Returns As Gaurav Tiwari
The success of Bhay has now opened the door for another chapter, with Season 2 set to bring Tacker back as Gaurav Tiwari. The return is significant for his OTT trajectory because it gives him another recurring character in a digital franchise, following his multiple appearances as Farooq Ali in the Special Ops universe.
Across these projects, Tacker has also changed his look to suit each character — from the undercover operative in Special Ops and police officer in Khakee: The Bihar Chapter to the army officer in Tanvi The Great and paranormal investigator in Bhay.
With Bhay Season 2 on the horizon, Tacker is set to return as Gaurav Tiwari, adding another chapter to his recent run of OTT roles across different genres.
