Lucifer Season 5 Review: What’s It About?

The first episode starts 2 months after the heartbreaking ending we all saw in the previous season. In season four’s last episode, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) returns to hell after Chloe (Lauren German) confesses her feelings. She is trying to move on or deal with the fact that he’s not there around. On the other hand, Lucifer is ruling hell and punishing the sinners. As time runs differently in Hell and on Earth, for him it’s been thousands of years down there.

As we also saw in the trailer, in Lucifer’s absence, his twin brother Michael poses as him in front of Chloe and others. Amenadiel (DB Woodside) and Linda (Rachael Harris) are looking after their son Charlie. Ella (Aimee Garcia) and Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) are furious at Lucifer for going away without informing them. So what havoc would Michael cause in our handsome devil’s life? Will our Deckerstar dreams crush in this season again? Well, we aren’t giving any spoilers.

Lucifer Season 5 Review: What’s Good?

I’m so glad that Netflix took the show’s rights and renewed it post-season 3. We have seen great growth in every character since then. If season 4 was full of emotions, drama, heartbreaks and unexpected moments; the latest one is no less. There are only 8 episodes but all of them are a lot to process. From the first episode itself, they build the curiosity and end it with a bang.

No words can suffice what a brilliant act Tom Ellis has put up this season. Playing the double role of celestial beings is something we don’t often watch in movies/series. But the makers have smartly made us understand the difference between them, apart from the black-white wings. While he makes you laugh and gives you ‘That’s my devil’ moment, there are times you would want to hug our Lucy tightly.

Lauren German is terrific throughout. She is the most sorted, sophisticated and matured character in this season; despite all the mess in her life.  She shines in every scene but stands out phenomenally in emotional sequences. She makes you feel her pain and heartbreak. The chemistry between Tom Ellis and Lauren German is adorable, messy, hot and sensual.

DB Woodside is a surprise package in this season. It looks like being a father has made him more empathetic towards every person around. He has the best lines in the series this time. Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia are good too. As supporting characters, they play a crucial role in everything that’s happening in Lucifer and Chloe’s life.

Special mention to the retro episode in season 5. Amid all the tension that’s going on this time, that episode was a breather.

Lucifer Season 5 Review: What’s Bad?

The number of episodes! How can you expect people to be okay with just 8 episodes? After a heavy and highly emotional season 4, anyone would expect more.
I wish the last scene of the last episode offered more. While it did leave me anxious and curious to know what’s going to happen next, I wish it that scene lasted a bit longer.

Lucifer Season 5 Review: Final Word

Tom Ellis and Lauren German’s Netflix drama is worth your every minute. They take us on one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride! Binge-watch this season to enjoy the package of devilishness we all wanted to see.
