Amitabh Bhattacharya could not have penned down a better ode for Bollywood’s Superstar Amitabh Bachchan. The colorful song with its quirky lyrics will surely be remembered for its edgy tune. Amit Trivedi known for his distinct style of music has done it again with Give it up For Bachchan. While folk and mystical has usually continued to be his terrain, Amit Trivedi with the track has ventured into a more popular tone of music this time.
Sukhwinder Singh renders his addictive voice to it. Speaking volumes about the film’s path breaking stint for all of them. Anurag Kashyap, who is the face of the Independent cinema scenario in India, has innovatively conceptualized a vivacious video for the song. Putting together 60 kids, dressed in different avatars of Big B, the tough task here will be pinpointing which Bachchan avatar was missed out.
The video is an able encapsulation of a proclaimed cinematic pro like Anurag Kashyap giving a humbling tribute to Bollywood’s most legendary icon Amitabh Bachchan, in a film that celebrates the centenary year of Indian cinema.
Give it Up For Bachchan has a catchy ring to it and its light hearted, humorous value will ensure the song catches on soon enough. It has the potential to retain itself well in the audience’s short term memory. Its classic feel will eventually fizzle out with better and smoother tracks that are to follow in the upcoming films of 2013. It’s not an epic track, but it signifies the grand stature of Bollywood’s most significant legend.
For now, Give it up For Bachchan, is here to stay! Hum on the peppy track, “Bachcha Bachcha gaye from Bachpan Bachpan… Bachchan, Bachchan…”
