The actor has reacted to people’s admiration towards his character. In the Netflix documentary ‘Money Heist: The Phenomenon’, Pedro Alonso said, “People need to get their heads checked. I’m sure he’s not the character you would want your daughter to marry.”

Show’s creator Álex Pina said, “Someone said to me, ‘This character doesn’t belong in our time, you should take him out of the series’. I said I had no intention of taking him out of the series. He’s a misogynist, a narcissist and a psychopath in many ways, but we could have a character like tha in the series and the audience could freely decide whose side they’re on, right?”
