While shooting magnificent action movies, unfortunate accidents tend to happen. Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 7 film set witnessed something similar yesterday. The star cast is currently shooting in the UK.
Due to the pandemic, the shooting of all movies was halted, including MI7. It was only a few days ago Tom and his team resumed the shoot in the UK. They planned to do it in Italy. However, the Italian government shut down the set in Venice. If that wasn’t enough, this bike accident yesterday was another trouble for the cast.
As reported by The Sun, while shooting one of the most expensive action sequences in the UK, the bike got exploded. It was called ‘snow scene’ and as the stuntman took a jump from the ramp with the bike, there was an explosion. It took 6 weeks to prepare for this particular scene of Mission: Impossible 7. This accident has left Tom Cruise furious.
About the incident on the sets of Mission: Impossible 7, a source stated, “This has been a massive challenge to stage and has cost a fortune, not to mention weeks and weeks of construction. But when it came to the big day, it went horribly wrong. The idea was for the stuntman to land on some huge pillows filled with card to cushion the blow, while the bike safely crashed to the ground a few metres away.”
The source added, “Unfortunately, it was miscalculated. The heat and the friction of the tyres meant that when the bike crashed, the cardboard padding sparked and went up in flames. The smoke was so bad they had to close a nearby RAF airfield.”
About Tom Cruise’s reaction, the source said, “Fortunately, nobody was hurt but it’s a total catastrophe, not to mention extremely expensive for all concerned. Tom is very frustrated. Nobody wants more delays.”
Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible 7 is being helmed by Christopher McQuarrie. Along with Tom, it also stars Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Ving Rhames.
