If 2020 were any different, we were would be watching the Friends reunion special episode multiple times as we did for the 236 episodes of the iconic sitcom. The original cast of Friends, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and Jennifer Aniston, were supposed to shoot for the reunion in March. The shoot was scheduled at the series’ original soundstage, Stage 24 at the Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles, California. But the shoot was delayed due to coronavirus pandemic.
Recently, according to the latest report, a few cast members divulged that the team was possibly looking to shoot this month and it seems the delay for shoot still continues. However, actress Jennifer Aniston is quite positive that the highly-awaited Friends reunion special will happen sooner or later.
While the 51-year-old actress expressed that the postponement comes sad news, she sees the situation as the glass is half-full. Speaking to Deadline, Jennifer Aniston said, “It’s going to be super. You know what? This has also given us more time to make it even more exciting and more fun than it would have been.”
‘I choose to see it as the glass is half-full that it got postponed,’ Jennifer Aniston continued. ‘Look, we’re not going anywhere. You’re never going to get rid of Friends, sorry. You’re stuck with us for life, guys.’
Jennifer also concluded that the delay of Friends reunion special is unfortunate but stressed how it was not a safe time due to COVID-19 to shoot the special with a live audience. According to Variety, the shoot will not happen before May 2021. The latest delay comes as a disappointment for Friends fans who saw a glimmer of hope for the reunion just a few hours earlier.
Late last week, Deadline noted that Leo Pearlman, who is producing the reunion special, said he was ‘excited’ to start filming in the next two weeks. However, the latest report claims that HBO Max distanced itself from Pearlman’s claim about the Friends reunion being imminent.’
