Since last year Kayne West and Nicki Minaj had got together for a song titled ‘New Body’. But now it has now been confirmed that rapper Minaj’s verse in West’s New Body has been scrapped. Kayne is planning to release an alternate version of the song instead. The reworked song will reportedly feature on West’s 10th studio album Donda. The album is named after the rapper’s mother and is slated for release on July 24.
A leaked version of the original ‘New Body’ track had gone viral on TikTok soon after it surfaced online last year. It featured guest contributions from Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign. At the time it was made, the track was expected to feature on Kayne West’s album Yandhi. The original version had received a lot of praise and attention after it went viral on Tiktok in July 2019. Fans and critics noted that it was one of the highlights from the leaked Yandhi tracks. But it never released.
The original lyrics of ‘New Body’ was about body shaming and the social stigma after plastic surgery but was later reworked by Kayne West to incorporate a positive Christian-themed message. Nicki Minaj said that the new song was more gospel-themed. The reworked gospel song was later previewed at listening parties for West’s ninth studio album Jesus Is King (2019). However, it was later known that due to creative differences between Nicki Minaj and Kayne West, the song had been scrapped from the Jesus Is King album altogether.
Last month, in June 2020, Nicki Minaj revealed that she would ask Kanye West about releasing the song since it was going viral on Tiktok. Later, she also urged her Barbz fanbase to petition Kim Kardashian to release the song as well. On July 18, Kayne West revealed the tracklist for his upcoming ‘Donda’ album but then later deleted the tweet. ‘New Body’ featured on the finalized tracklist for that album, alongside other tracks like ‘Hurricane’, ‘God’s Country’, ’24’, and ‘Off the Grid’.
However, now that it’s been confirmed that Nicki Minaj will not feature on the latest version of ‘New Body’ fans are voicing their disappointment online. Here’s what some fans have to say:

NAH! He don't got the balls to do that. NICKI OWNS NEWBODY! Idc who got the rights to it, she KILLED IT! And if he did take her off the song, just know that it was because her version was making noise. The barbz ain't bring this much buzz to #NewBody to be disrespected like that
