R Balki’s Pad Man is striking the right chords at the box office. More than just being a box office favourite, the film has emerged as a winner for the audience.
The film’s main motive was to spread awareness amongst the people, and Pad Man has successfully managed to do so.
Speaking about the numbers, this Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor starrer film collected 3.25 crores on its 2nd Saturday. Now, Pad Man stands at the total collection of 68.22 crores* at the box office. The film is racing towards the 70 crore mark and it might touchdown to it soon by Monday. The film is running smooth and steady at the box office. The positive word of mouth has added an extra fuel to it.
This week, the collections might slow down as other releases like Aiyaary and Black Panther have been released in the theatres. But because of Aiyaary’s slow start and mixed reviews, it might help Pad Man to buck up and earn well at the box office.
Speaking about Pad Man, the film has been made tax-free in Rajasthan. The Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje announced the same yesterday. Raje said that she wants maximum number of women to see this film so that the message about the use of sanitary napkins can be spread. She also said that sanitary pads machine will be installed in schools and colleges in the rural areas of state.
Well, that’s great now!
Pad Man is banned in Pakistan. Speaking about it, director R Balki said, “PadMan is not banned in Pakistan alone. They have their own reasons. They have their wrong reason. You do something very unfair to women and humanity if you do such things. It is not only about this movie. It is the story of this man’s life, and what issue it is addressing.”
