Jessica Chastain’s Other Mommy is all set to hit the big screens on October 9. The film’s trailer saw Jessica play a dual role and promises some seriously scary moments. Meanwhile, the film will clash with Sony’s The Social Reckoning, a standalone sequel to The Social Network (2010). The latter dramatized the 2021 Facebook leak by whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeff Horwitz. It stars Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong, Bill Burr, Betty Gilpin, and Billy Magnussen. As per early predictions, Other Mommy is set to leave behind The Social Reckoning.
Other Mommy Opening Day Prediction
Jessica Chastain’s film is reportedly set to take the #1 spot at the US box office. Anne Hathaway’s Verity. It will be quite interesting to see female-led films take the top 2 spots at the US box office. Meanwhile, the horror flick is predicted to cross $20 million on opening day across 3,200 theaters in North America. The film’s opening prediction looks promising, given its small $18 million budget.
Directed by Rob Savage, Other Mommy stars Chastain as Ursula and her evil doppelganger, who terrorizes the former’s 8-year-old daughter, Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark). The film also stars Jay Duplass, Karen Allen, and Dichen Lachman.

The Social Reckoning Opening Day Prediction
Meanwhile, the Aaron Sorkin-directed film is aiming to open with $7-8 million in North America. However, the projections are way behind its 2010 predecessor, The Social Network. In comparison, the 2010 drama had opened to $22 million. Moreover, the original, directed by David Fincher and starring Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg, grossed $224 million worldwide, won four Oscars, including one for Sorkin’s screenplay, and is widely considered one of the best movies of the 2010s.
Fincher and Eisenberg have opted not to associate themselves with the second film; therefore, Sony has tried to distance the two films by calling the second a companion piece rather than a direct sequel. The Social Reckoning was made on a $30 million budget and will need to perform well at the box office to recoup its production costs.
The Social Reckoning’s story follows years after the events of the first film. It follows a Facebook engineer (Mikey Madison) who leaks thousands of internal documents to a Wall Street Journal reporter (Jeremy Allen White) to expose the company’s dark realities.
