The horror movie recently surpassed the worldwide haul of The Conjuring: Last Rites, breaking into the all-time top 5 horror grossers. The film gained momentum in the later weeks and stayed at the #1 spot in the domestic box office rankings for several weeks. The horror sensation survived and thrived with the sole power of content. It became the biggest original movie of the decade, and this is no small feat.

Obsession is edging closer to the $510 million milestone at the worldwide box office

Obsession, released in May this year, is still running at the international markets. It collected a solid $238.2 million at the overseas box office so far and is still counting. It is benefiting from strong word of mouth. After this weekend, the film crossed the $500 million milestone at the worldwide box office. Its current total stands at $501.7 million in worldwide box office cume.

Box office summary of Obsession

  • Domestic – $263.5 million
  • International – $238.2 million
  • Worldwide – $501.7 million

Edges closer to beating Minions & Monsters

According to Box Office Mojo, Minions & Monsters is slightly ahead of Obsession in the 2026 global grossers. It has collected $505.8 million at the worldwide box office so far. Since it is still running in theaters in North America and overseas, the movie will continue to earn globally. It is the lowest-grossing movie in the Minions franchise.

Obsession is less than $5 million away from surpassing the global haul of Minions & Monsters, which has a far larger budget than it does. The horror movie has a stronger hold than Minions & Monsters since it has been in theaters longer. It will once again be a strong win for the horror sensation since it is an original story. At the same time, Minions & Monsters is part of a big and blockbuster franchise.

Directed by Curry Barker, Obsession was released in May.
