Yes, you read that right! The film recently took its worldwide total to $999.1 million and is expected to push past $1 billion anytime now. Among other box office achievements, Joaquin Phoenix starrer film has also become the biggest October opening weekend in movie history. It collected $93.5 million across its first three days in wide release.
The Oscar hopeful became a huge deal ever since it was announced. Its trailer featuring Phoenix as the comic book history’s deadliest villains was released and the audience couldn’t wait to see Joaquin Phoenix play this dark role on the big screen. The DC movie received endless praise for his performance and now Joaquin is expected to be an Academy Award nominee for the same.

There are several other Hollywood films that have spanned the $1 billion mark this year, including Toy Story 4, The Lion King, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Aladdin and Spider-Man: Far From Home, but what makes Joker stand apart is the fact that it is the first with an R-rating to manage the feat.
For the Warner Bros, Joker is the seventh film to cross the $1 billion mark. Before this film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($1.34B), Aquaman ($1.148B), Lord of the Rings: Return of the King ($1.12B), Dark Knight Rises ($1.08B), Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey ($1.01B), and Dark Knight ($1B) were the films on the list, says a report in Deadline.
