Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur’s Family Star has completed its day 1 in theatres, and as the advance booking trend suggested, the collection has not been up to the mark. Compared to Vijay’s previous two releases, the number is much lower, which is not a good sign. Keep reading to know more!
Reception of Family Star
Directed by Parasuram, the film opened to mixed reviews from critics yesterday. Speaking about the reaction of the ticket-buying audience, it’s also mixed so far, and it was reflected in yesterday’s collection, as the growth during the evening and night shows was very limited. As a result, the final number remained much lower than the 10 crore mark.
Day 1 estimates of Family Star
Family Star stayed much lower in the advance booking, as compared to Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger and Kushi, and the opening day collection has shown a similar trend. As per the early trends flowing in, the film did a business of 6-6.40 crores at the Indian box office on day 1.

After a good start in the morning shows, the film picked up in the afternoon shows. However, instead of an increase in occupancy in the evening shows, a drop was seen, and again, during the night shows, limited growth was seen, similar to the afternoon shows.
Much lower start than Vijay Deverakonda’s previous films
The collection of 6-6.40 crores on day 1 is very low compared to Vijay’s last film, Kushi. For those who don’t know, Kushi did a business of 15.30 crores at the Indian box office on day 1. Before that, Vijay’s Liger had taken a start of 16 crores. Both these films received mixed reactions from audiences, so they eventually ended up collecting low in the lifetime run. Now, let’s see how the latest film remains over the next few days.
Competition from Tillu Square
Meanwhile, there’s another Telugu film, Tillu Square, playing in theatres. It’s already a success and will attract audiences this weekend, thus impacting the growth of Family Star.
