  1. Its really Commendable that Marathi Audience has started respecting its own babies vis a vis surrendering unconditionally to Bollywood & Hollywood.
Today Marathi audience is dismissive of big banner Dilwale, Fan etc & are appreciating good content. Natsamrat & now Sairat earlier Kaksparsh. Suddenly its a renaissance for the predecessors of Dadasaheb Phalke & Shantaram Vankudre.
Not so long ago Mumbai was inundated with very low quality , C Grade Bhojpuri movies. But the true cultured Mumbai & Maharashra residents are now appreciating good content.
No wonder Airlift, Jungle Book, Natsamrat etc are superhit.

    • Yes it is really pleasantly surprising what is happening in Maharashtra over the last few years- Marathi serials, plays , movies are doing unbelievably well. Every media house Star, zee , colors , filmfare, all fm channels etc are falling over each other to launch marathi awards/channels. This should be a case study – how maharashtrians are rapidly getting back to their own culture. This when other language channels like gujarati had to shut shop and are there is only one gujarati gec today

  2. Marathi audience always appreciated quality films and dramas. Do not forget that it was the effort of a marathi manoos which started this film industry. Only 80s and 90s that we forgot our own identity and rich culture for a while mesmerised by bollywood glitter. But now we have understood that it was not gold but copper and the true gold lied beneath the soil of maharashtra. Lets give credit to shwaas for beginning of this renaissance.

  3. Marathi audience always loved good movies. Marathi movie quality so far was really really bad. Mindless comedies, tearjerkers were the only movies being made in Marathi. The talented directors and writers were missing. Naturally marathi audience went for better entertainment option which was Hindi/Hollywood.. Now with the good storytellers and directors like Manule people are coming up. This has nothing to do with being marathi etc. Its a universal thing that people will go/watch the best things that they can get.
