Four years after Mardaani, Rani Mukerji is returning to the big screen with Hichki. Both these films are her home productions and while Mardaani had proven to be a good success at the Box Office, one now waits to see how Hichki fares.
After all, this one has a far more offbeat subject when compared to Mardaani which had action and drama as its core base with cop v/s criminals battle as its underlining theme. With the story revolving around a handicap, though this one doesn’t have a depressing milieu when compared to Rani Mukerji’s Black, it still has its restrictions.
Hence, it would all boil down to the kind of word of mouth that the film generates. Even though films like these have limited audience, even that can help 30-40 crore total to be reached if they truly have worthy content. By means of promos, Hichki seems like a different story for sure but it has to be seen how much of an entertainment quotient does it have to offer.

This is the reason why one can’t bet too much on the film’s opening since at best it appears to be a 2-3 crore starter. The good news for the film though is that it isn’t arriving with too much of a competition when it comes to Bollywood films. However, it could well happen that if the content is not too positive, then on Saturday and Sunday there may not be much of a growth which would be counterproductive. In any case, Ajay Devgn’s Raid is set to have the best weekend even in its second week and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety would have an audience of its own as well, hence eating away some share from Hichki.
