In 2016, there have been three prominent A Certificate films that are released – Kya Kool Hain Hum 3, Mastizaade and Rocky Handsome. While first two were sex comedies, third was an action entertainer.
Now Love Games is another adult entertainer that is hitting the screens and it belongs to the erotic genre. Expectedly, the release size would be controlled, more so since the Bhatt affair features newcomers in principle roles.
Such genre of films has set audience for them in B and C centers, and this is where it is expected to open better too. Moreover, since the film deals with the theme of swingers, there is a possibility of multiplex audience warming up to it as well on the basis of word of mouth. Vikram Bhatt is a seasoned director and hence it is expected that he would have come up with an interesting narrative for the film. However, it would eventually boil down to what audience has to say after the first few shows have commenced. From the opening perspective, expect a start of 30%-40% – especially at the single screens.
Of course, costs would come into play as well. Love Games is a moderately priced film which means recovery should not be an issue. Also, since it is the solo Bollywood release of the week, it has the ground wide open to bring in moolah if buzz increases over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Hollywood is coming up with The Jungle Book and Disney has promoted the film quite heavily, both for English as well as Hindi version. The film should prove to be a good challenge for Love Games at the Box Office.
