R Balki and Akshay Kumar’s PadMan has slowed down a bit at the box office. The film though got an overwhelming response from the fans and audience, but release of various other films have been trying to apply brakes at its speed.
Despite facing a tough competition from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat and Marvel studios’ Black Panther, PadMan has successfully won the hearts of many.
The film collected a total of 62.87 crore in week 1 and 13.78 crore in week 2 at the box office. PadMan in its week 2 collected 2.10 crore on Friday, 3.15 crore on Saturday, 3.78 crore on Sunday, 1.50 crore on Monday, 1.25 crore on Tuesday, 1 crore on Wednesday, 1 crore on Thursday, 50 lacs on Friday, 80 lacs on Saturday and 1 crore on Sunday. The collection now stands at the total amount of 78.95 crores. By the end of this week, PadMan will touch the 80 crore mark at the box office.
Made on a budget of 37 crores, PadMan has gone on to become a profitable venture for the makers. The film has made tax-free in Rajasthan by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. She announced the same on February 16. Raje said she wants maximum number of women to see the film so that the message on sanitary hygiene can spread.

She also announced that sanitary pads machines will be installed in various schools and colleges in the rural areas in the state.
Directed by R. Balki, PadMan is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a Tamil Nadu-based social activist who revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost machine to make sanitary napkins.
