Actor Vivek Oberoi on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has risked his own political career by demonetising Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes in an attempt do something unique for the country.
“Our country has become like instant noodles. We want all things at once. Our Prime Minister has taken a big risk. He has risked his political legacy for doing something unique for our country. This is what I feel,” Vivek said here when asked to comment on Modi’s demonetisation move.
The actor was speaking at a function to announce the second edition of the Marathi Filmfare Awards.
Listing the advantages of the decision, the 40-year-old actor said: “The common man will be benefited by the money which is getting deposited in banks. People will get loan easily and the banks’ interest rates are going to drop, which will produce more work opportunities.”
“It is right that we are going through a little difficulty now. But this is a kind of war and after this ‘labour pain’, a new India is going to emerge. In the long run, our country will witness fast-track growth,” he said.
