Vidya Balan has refused to confirm whether she will play Carnatic music legend M.S. Subbulakshmi in a biopic made by admaker-cinematographer-filmmaker Rajiv Menon.
“M.S. Subbulakshmi is one of the greatest exponents of Carnatic classical music. Half of the country or more have woken up to her suprabhatam for decades now. If I do get to play her I will be extremely honoured. There are talks on and that’s all I will say,” the 34-year-old said here Monday at the unveiling of the cover of the magazine “Savvy” featuring her.
“Especially as a South Indian, I think it will be the biggest honour if I get to play M.S. Subbulakshmi,” she added.
“Script is the hero of the film. I think that’s what is being established more and more. To work with someone or not, I don’t think that really is a benchmark.”
Vidya got the National and Filmfare Awards for best actress for The Dirty Picture while for Kahaani the actress won the Filmfare Award for the best actress once again.
