Everyone is excited to see Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif reunite for the third installment in the Tiger franchise. After seeing some high-performance action sequences in Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger and Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tiger Zinda Hai, the third part is one of the highly anticipated films of the coming year.
As per reports, the third installment will be directed by Band Baaja Baaraat director Maneesh Sharma and not Ali Abbas. Now, we have come across a report revealing the reason why.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, a source informed the portal that the reason for the change in director was because Ali Abbas Zafar has too much on his plate. The source said, “After delivering a blockbuster in Tiger Zinda Hai, Adi (Aditya Chopra) and Salman Khan were both keen to have him back on board as the director. In-fact, Ali had even started working on the script of Tiger 3, taking forward an idea that Aditya Chopra had presented to him. Adi believes Ali is among the most promising directors of Hindi cinema in today’s time.”

The source added that Aditya Chopra recently came to know that Ali Abbas Zafar was working on multiple scripts. These projects include Mr. India, Katrina Kaif’s superhero film as well as some for his production house. The source said, “Adi was clear on the fact that Tiger 3 will not just be the biggest film of his production house, but also the biggest that Bollywood has seen till date. He had a particular vision for the franchise and to translate that to spectacle, he wanted Ali to give 100% dedication to Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 for a period of 2 to 3 years, which included scripting, pre-production, post-production and finally the release. Adi doesn’t believe in the idea of multiple films at same point of time.”
The source went on to say that Zafar wanted to direct the third part in the Tiger franchise but didn’t want to be restricted to 1 project for 2-3 years. The source added, “Adi believes in the funda of looking at one film at a time, and couldn’t be in sync with Ali’s outlook. After several rounds of discussions, Adi felt the need to part ways, and got Maneesh Sharma on board the franchise.”
The source also said that Aditya Chopra was clear that the film required complete dedication from the director. It revealed that Maneesh wrote a screenplay and shared the blueprint and details about the action sequences with Aditya Chopra. He even shared them with Salman Khan, who gave a green signal as well.
The report also mentioned that there is no bad blood between Aditya Chopra and Ali Abbas Zafar.
Aditya Chopra and his entire team is personally looking into all the scripts that are being made under YRF Project 50. Tiger 3 is Adi’s baby, considering that it’s his story that’s being worked on. The film is slated to go on the floors around February next year. The pre-production work has already begun. An official announcement of the same is expected on September 27.
