After a lot of hullabaloo about who will be cast as the lead lady of Shah Rukh Khan starer, Farah Khan directorial Happy New Year, the actress has finally been zeroed on.
Deepika Padukone has toppled over other contestants and finally bagged the much sought after role as the female lead opposite SRK.
The prime contenders for the role were all of B-town’s top actresses, from Anushka Sharma to Katrina Kaif. There was also news of Television actress Ankita Lokhande impressing SRK at IIFA, which she attended with beau Sushant Singh Rajput.
However, Padukone has remained the best option in their eyes since the very beginning. With Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express, King Khan and Deepika’s jodi is shining better than ever before and no one would have been a more suitable cast.
Since Deepika has the sweetest memories of her debut vehicle Om Shanti Om, with Farah and SRK, she is keen to work with the same team. Reportedly the actress had to shuffle in her dates to fit the film. She can be expected to juggle between Happy New Year and Imtiaz Ali’s next with Ranbir Kapoor that will go on floors in January 2014; but looks like work isn’t making the actress complain at all!
