CBS Studios International, a division of CBS Corp, and Reliance Broadcast Network Ltd announced an entertainment venture in India. Anil Ambani’s RBNL will form a 50:50 venture with the US-based media conglomerate, that will bring such shows as ‘CSI’,’ Two And A Half Men’, ‘America’s Top Model’ and ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ to India. The new media company, called BIG CBS Networks, will tap shows from CBS’s program library and also purchase content from others.

CBS Corp has proposed an investment of $100 million over five years. In the first phase, the joint venture will broadcast English language general entertainment channels and will explore Hindi and regional language channels in the next phase.

While CBS’ television network is America’s No. 1 broadcast network, RBN controls India’s largest radio network (92.7 BIG FM) and is into marketing with Experiential Marketing (Big Live), Out of Home (Big Street) and Digital (Big Digital). BIG CBS will compete with channels like Star World, AXN and Zee Café in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Maldives and Pakistan.
