Just recently Shahid Kapoor apparently bowed out of the next Yash Chopra production due to over commitments. Meanwhile Salman Khan has a bigger problem in hand with at least five-six biggies waiting to be green-lighted, especially with temptation of 100 crore remuneration floating around. Now Ranbir Kapoor too is seemingly facing the same predicament and he has to make a decision soon, more so since as many as three filmmakers – Imtiaz Ali, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap – are planning their next with him.
“All this while he was busy shooting for Karan Johar’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani‘ in Paris. He would be entirely focused on ‘Barfi!‘ now. However once the Anurag Basu film is out of his way, he would be finalising plans for next one year”, informs a source.
The need of the situation for him is to do that pretty fast because ‘Barfi!‘ as well as ‘Rockstar‘ have taken much longer than anticipated. For someone who works on only one film at a time, he presumably lost out on at least a film or two that he could finish in the interim period.
“Ranbir would be on a fast track mode now”, the source continues, “He would be soon wrapping up ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani‘ in India. After that he is expected to close plans for Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’, Imtiaz Ali’s next which is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and yet untitled Zoya Akhtar where he would be seen with Kareena Kapoor.”
While Ranbir would be doing films across genres, there is a choc-o-block schedule awaited over next 12-15 months. Thankfully one director who is willing to wait before beginning his next film with Ranbir is Anurag Basu. Though there have been talks of the biopic on Kishore Kumar being shelved, the filmmaker says that it is very much on.
Says Anurag, “Both Ranbir and I are committed to the film. Once he is through with ‘Bombay Velvet‘ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani‘, we will sit down again and chalk out future plans.”
One waits to see with whom does Ranbir start a film first. Would it be Imtiaz, Zoya or Anurag? Watch this space.
