From hosting the latest season of the dare-devil television reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, to being an ambassador for child rights, Priyanka Chopra is a woman who knows what she wants. The former Miss World and Bollywood actor has been appointed as the United Nations Children’s Fund’s newest national ambassador for promotion of child rights. In doing so, Priyanka now joins the league of legends Amitabh Bachchan and Sharmila Tagore, who have supported UNICEF initiatives in the past.
“I am very honoured to formalise my association with UNICEF as their National Ambassador to help bring awareness for Child Rights and adolescence,” said Priyanka at the signing ceremony in Delhi on 10th August, 2010. “Over the past few years, I have worked very closely with the team at UNICEF to bring awareness to a number of causes related to India’s young and I realised that there is so much more to be done. I hope that by lending my voice I can make a difference to their lives.”
Priyanka Chopra has been associated with UNICEF since 2008 and has always backed girls’ education through various activities. With just a month left for the release of her film, Anjaana Anjaani, and her television show, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ also coming out soon, Priyanka’s hands are going to be full. We are glad that she can find time for a good cause too!
