Makarand Deshpande, the actor who might have not been the lead but has given some brilliant performances with pivotal roles in movies like Satya, Makdee amongst others, and how! He might have been a name in the industry but his unconditional love for theatres is what has been attracting us like nothing else before. The actor recently got in conversation with us, and revealed about his admiration for stage, upcoming movie Chicken Curry Law and much more.
About his upcoming movie, Chicken Curry.., it will witness him in the character of Mutthu Swamy, who is a lawyer. The plot revolved around a belly dancer working at the bar who faces sexual harassment, and the rest of the story is about how every part of the society focuses on blaming her and questioning her character rather than having their focus on the influential man who did this to her.
“The Indian society is patriarchal and so is the law,” this small statement by the actor spoke a lot more in depth. Now, it’ll be interesting to see the actor donning the lawyer hat and giving us another portrayal to remember.
Makarand, also shared about how his love for stage persists, even after entering the industry and how it will remain forever. “I may keep doing films and television every now, but the performer in me comes alive only when I am on stage,” he shared. For the unknowns, Deshpande is famously known for his stage skills, training some famous actors in his lifetime and following his passion.
Chicken Curry Law also features Ashutosh Rana, Nivedita Bhattacharya and Natalia Janoszek.
Makarand called Ashutosh a “versatile actor”, adding that he has been typecast in negative roles.
