Boman Irani may have started out late in Bollywood, but the actor has given us ample memorable roles with Munnabhai MBBS, Khosla Ka Ghosla and the most-loved character of Virus, from 3 Idiots. And now, as Boman gears up for the release of his film alongside Rajkummar Rao, Paresh Rawal, Gajraj Rao and Sumeet Vyas in pivotal roles, he reveals the three questions he always asks himself before taking up any film.
Boman has revealed in an interview, “’What does this guy want out of life?’, ‘How does he struggle to get what he wants?’ and ‘If he fails, how does he change?’ And change is important for the character, irrespective of the outcome. I spent a lot of time finding some soul of the characters. People remember certain characters by the way they spoke or walked. I think that is nothing to do with the character, if Virus spoke differently or walked differently, he would still be hopefully impactful. But I don’t know if he would be memorable.”
Further speaking to PTI in the same interview, Boman shed some light on his character in Made In China and revealed, “My character doesn’t need money. He has a little, beautiful bungalow where he practises his medicine. Something may come in the way of the want, so there’s a conflict due to ideological differences.”
For the unreserved, Boman essays the role of Dr Vardhi, a plain-speak doctor who doesn’t give two hoots about being a sexologist. He partners with Rao’s budding businessman Raghu to sell a magic sex soup.
Meanwhile, Boman will also be seen in Farhad Samjhi’s Housefull 4, Dharma Production’s Drive and Kabir Khan’s ’83.
