American actor of Indian origin, Kal Penn, who works on connecting US President Barack Obama with the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities, has been robbed at gunpoint in Washington DC.

Penn was last seen on the Indian screen in Mira Nair’s The Namesake. Since 2009, he has been working in the White House’s Office of Public Liaison as Associate Director in the Office of Public Engagement.
