We’ve seen and heard enough about Bollywood stars going to Hollywood like Mallika Sherawat, or hanging out with them a la Preity Zinta or catching up with them at a concert like Shah Rukh Khan. But it looks like the tide is reversing with Hollywood stars mixing with Bollywood! Read on…
The latest was John Travolta, who came to Mumbai, with his daughter, to launch a new model of a watch company that he endorses. The actor arrived in true Bollywood style, flying his own private Boeing and received a warm welcome, “What surprised me was the activity at the airport at midnight! It was unbelievable. I also liked the warmth of the welcome. I’ve not been to India before, but yet, I was greeted like an old friend!”
The Grease star kept his public outings to a minimum but we caught a brief glimpse of him GQ Man of the Year Awards. He even bagged the GQ Legend Award for his performance in films like Saturday Night Fever, Pulp Fiction, ‘Grease’ and Face Off. On being asked whether he would like to join the Bollywood bandwagon, Travolta surprised us with, “I would love to work in Bollywood, but I have never been approached by anyone. I keep hearing that people want to work with me, but none of that has ever materialized.”
John Travolta’s departure from Mumbai coincided with rapper Sean Kingston’s arrival in the city. The American artist is here to play a gig and plans to jam with Aadesh Shrivastava. The 20-year old singer tweeted, “Just got to India…It’s fireburning out here…Got some nice people out here though.”
Earlier this year, Shah Rukh Khan roped in international R&B singer Akon to record a song for his movie Ra.One. Shah Rukh even threw a lavish party for the artist, where he invited the best of Bollywood to shake a leg with Akon. Pretty Woman Julia Roberts was in India last year for the filming of Eat, Pray, Love. The Oscar-winning actress stayed at the Pataudi palace in Gurgaon with her twins.
We hope people out there are listening!
