Producer-director Karan Johar is busy shooting for his television show titled ‘India’s Next Superstar’ nowadays. He is seen in the show along with Rohit Shetty, who is also a part of the judge panel in the reality show.
Karan was in news a few days back, when the announcement of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut gracing his show was made. Yet again here is another piece of information coming in related to him, but this time it’s not a good one.
As per a report by Aaj Tak, Karan’s Dharma Productions, Endemol Productions and Kamla Pasand Brand are in some deep trouble. A notice has been filed by the Delhi Health Department against all the three. The reason being showcase of Kamla Pasand advertisement during the show. As per the report, the name of Dharma Productions is broadcast before the show begins and is the reason as to why the notice has been filed against the director and his production house.
Reportedly, Karan has been served with a notice twice for the violation of the COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) Act and could be sent to jail for a period of 5 years and along with a penalty of Rs. 2000. Karan is not alone in this, even the people related to the show, who had agreed to telecast the ‘surrogated ad’ were also found guilty in this incident.
All of them who have been accused in this case, have been given a timeline of 10 days to send their answers. If any of them fails to do so a case will be registered against that particular company and its owner by the Delhi Health Department. The reason cited for raising the concern is that India’s Next Superstar mostly has youngsters as their viewers and the ad of Kamla Pasand could have a bad impact on their mind.
