The first half of 2018 came to an end on a high note with the release of Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor in lead. The year so far has been the best that industry has seen this decade with more than 10 successful films releasing in this span.

While we shall come up with a Box-Office report soon, the year has seen the release of films that were high on content and commands a good repeat value.

The best five films of the year for me in terms of content are mentioned below:

5. Raazi (Rating: 3.5 Stars)

Starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kausal in lead, Raazi was the a well written film that narrated the story of an Indian Spy. The film had ample of patriotism, which was blended with a strong emotional sub-plot in the film. While the first half was near flaw-less, the director took a lot of creative liberties in the second half which diluted the impact. None the less, Raazi is one of the finest Bollywood films of the year till date.

4. Sanju (Rating: 3.5 Stars)

Rajkumar Hirani films usually end up being one of the best films of the year and Sanju is no different. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in lead, the film took us through a roller-coaster ride filled with laughter and emotions. Although we can’t vouch for the authenticity of the content with respect to the fact, the film despite a few flaws, left us entertained through-out the run-time. Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kausal’s performance in the film are alone worth the entire ticket price.

3. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (Rating: 3.5 Stars)

This was indeed the biggest surprise of the year. Directed by Luv Ranjan, the film focused on the bromance between Kartik Aryan and Sunny Singh and proved to be a wholesome entertainer. The quirky one-liners and out of the box situations kept me hooked through-out the film. The film doesn’t quite have a strong “CONTENT” but none the less a true entertainer in all aspects.

2. Raid (Rating: 4 Stars)

After Golmaal Again, Ajay Devgn delivered yet another successful film in the form of Raid directed by Rajkumar Gupta. Based on a true incident, the dialogues and water tight screenplay was the USP of the film. The strong screenplay was supported by intense performances by Ajay Devgn and Saurabh Shukla. Raid was a prime example of making a good commercial film, and deservingly is one of the best films of 2018.

1. Padman (Rating: 4.5 Stars)

This is one film that should have performed better at the Box-Office. It was brave film directed by R. Balki wherein Akshay Kumar delivered his career best performance. Padman had the heart at its right place, and I am hopeful that people would realize the importance of this film in the coming few years.
