Trust Ekta Kapoor to be on top of the newest trend in Bollywood, sequels. The maverick filmmaker-producer, who has long been known as the undisputed Queen of television in India, is now on her way to becoming the Sequel Queen as well.
Do not believe us? Just have a look at the sequels she has in the pipeline:
Kya Kool Hain Hum 2: The sequel to Ekta’s first adult comedy, KKHH2 will also star her brother Tusshar Kapoor. While critics may have doubted the success of Kya Kool Hain Hum, Ekta managed to prove her detractors wrong with the story of two wannabes.
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2: Mumbai was the battleground for warring dons – Emraan Hashmi and Ajay Devgan in last year’s hit, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. With Akshay Kumar playing the don in the sequel, Ekta Kapoor hopes to repeat her magic at the box-office again.
Shootout At Lokhandwala 2: Ekta sure loves her gangster flicks. With the unforgettable charisma of Maya Dolas, Ekta is said to have picked the encounter of Manya Surve in 1982 – the first-ever recorded case of encounter killing in Mumbai – for the film. Sanjay Gupta and Ekta are co-producing the film.
Between her productions banners, Balaji Telefilms and ALT Entertainment, Ekta Kapoor has several other films in the pipeline: Dirty Picture (starring Vidya Balan) and Dayaan with Vishal Bhardwaj. Moreover, the list of movies Ekta has produced so far is as eclectic as it comes. There’s the paranormal thriller, Ragini MMS, the dark comedy, Shor In The City, the voyeuristic take on relationships, Love Sex Aur Dhokha, and others.
