Karan Johar recently announced the sequel of the 2008 original movie Dostana which will now star Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor. The third lead is yet to be announced.
While the makers are still looking for a handsome hunk to be finalised as the third lead and rumours have it that Kartik and Janhvi are not paired opposite each other but will be seen falling for the same guy in the movie. A source close to Pinkvilla revealed, “Kartik is busy with a few projects already. He just wrapped up the sequel of Love Aaj Kal and is now shooting for Pati, Patni Aur Woh in Lucknow. After he wraps this schedule, Kartik will finish the whole film by September-end. On the other hand, Janhvi is juggling between two movies- the biopic on IAF officer Gunjan Saxena and Rooh-i-Afza. She will also be completely free only by September.”
On being asked about the busy schedule of both the actors, source revealed, “The idea is to complete the film in two to three schedules. So they shoot between October to December. Kartik takes a small break from the shoot to finish promotions for Pati, Patni and resumes again. Then January onwards, Kartik moves on to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 whereas Janhvi will start prepping for her role in Karan Johar’s Takht which is also scheduled to begin early next year.”

After Kartik and Janhvi, it is now being said that Shilpa Shetty will also be a part of this film. Recently, it was learnt that Shilpa has almost locked her comeback project, but as per Deccan Chronicle’s report, the actress might also make a special appearance in Karan Johar’s Dostana 2. Interestingly, Shilpa was seen in Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra’s Dostana, in Shut Up & Bounce song.
