Deepika Padukone, apart from being a mind-blowing actress on screen, is also as tender-hearted as a human being. While she keeps talking about tackling depression, Salman Khan recently said he ‘can’t afford this luxury’.
Deepika has opened about her life to her fans and everyone watching her. There are very few celebrities who choose to share some of the intimate details from their personal lives. Recently, while talking about her experience of depression, Deepika said how every second was a struggle.
In a conversation with Vogue, she said, “The word that best describes my experience of depression is a struggle. Every second was a struggle. I felt exhausted the whole time.”
While, on the other hand, Salman during an interaction said, he “can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional.” He then added, “No matter what I am going through, it works against me.” About Salman’s views, Deepika, without taking any name, said, “People confuse it with being a bit sad. A male star said recently that he didn’t have the luxury to be depressed. As if depression is a choice!”
One of the highest-paid actresses of India, Deepika, who started her career with “Om Shanti Om” over a decade ago, says when she had come out to tell the world of her battle with depression, she didn’t think of it as being “brave or revolutionary.”
“I just felt that it was important for me to share something that was very personal to me, something that had changed my life, and something that I felt had a lot of stigmas when I was experiencing it.” She had outlined the ‘big difference’ between sadness and depression and said while people suffering depression must be willing to seek help, those around them need to treat them with love and understanding.
