‘Every actor is as good as his last film’ is something that definitely stands true for Bollywood and going by that alone Vidya Balan’s last two films put up an underwhelming performance at the box office which might affect the business of Bobby Jasoos as well.
In an interview with Koimoi when Vidya was asked whether there were things she could have done differently in Ghanchakkar, she replied, “My last two films were very different films. Every film is a unique film. In my nine years in the industry I have understood that you can’t really predict the fate of a film. You can only do your best and leave the rest to the audience. That’s all you can do and I do just that.”
Vidya continues on whether one failure affects her credibility as an actor, “I am too close to the film. I find it very difficult to judge. We tried to tell a story which obviously in some way failed to connect with the people. Even if we had done it differently, who knows may be it still wouldn’t have worked. As far as credibility goes, it is not something flimsy and is built over years and not over one or two films. Box office success for you is as good as your last film. It only affects your bargaining power. It stands true only for newer actors where they are as good as their last film. Otherwise every actor goes through great successes and failures. Not every film can possibly do the same kind of business. It doesn’t affect either credibility or confidence. Only when you are in the nascent stages of your career will that affect you but not after that.”
Bobby Jasoos is a detective film that stars Ali Fazal opposite Vidya Balan in lead role and the film is all set to release on 4th July.
