2015 was a year full of films that were high on the commercial quotient as well as those which were rich in content. Films such as Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Hunterrr turned out to be surprise hits. They truly managed to stand out thanks to the performances by the actors. On the other hand there were also films like Talvar and Manjhi which were like a mirror to the society and its real-life, hard-hitting stories. What made these films special is certainly the level of acting that they showcased.

After a powerful debut, Ayushmann Khurrana was going through a slightly rough -patch but YRF’s Dum Laga Ke Haisha brought him back in the game and how. The film’s simplistic storyline backed with Ayushmann’s performance as the small time guy Prem turned out to be truly impressive. Right from catching the right regional twang to his excellent body language of having a plus size wife, the actor showed a great deal of effort.

Hunterrr was a film one would have easily mocked looking at its promos. The film which actually wasn’t a sex comedy managed to gain a lot of praises for its brave efforts to put up a coming of age story of a sex addict. Essaying the role of Mandar Ponkshe with such ease, Gulshan Devaiah managed to surprise all. After his notable performances in supporting roles for films like Shaitan and Ram Leela, as the lead in Hunterrr, he definitely stood out.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui: Manjhi – The Mountain Man

Meghna Gulzar’s Talvar turned out to be one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year. With power packed performances from the entire cast of the film, we cannot help but mention how impressive Irrfan Khan was in the film. He steered through the tough role with such ease that it would be a shame not to reward him for his commendable performance in the film.
