Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role, is all set for its grand theatrical release in December. Given the high ground-level buzz, the film has huge box office potential. Not only in India, but also overseas, it is enjoying considerable hype. Internationally, it is enjoying the hype in North America (the USA and Canada) and is expected to kick-start its journey on an impressive note. But any guesses on how much it needs to break even in the territory? Keep reading for a detailed report!

Due to the sequel factor, there’s genuine interest in the upcoming Tollywood action thriller. Undoubtedly, it’s Balayya’s biggest film ever, and already, trade experts are making some bold predictions. Specifically, talking about the North American territory, the film is expected to set a record start for the actor, which will be like winning half the battle.

Akhanda 2’s North America breakeven target revealed

According to the latest report, Akhanda 2’s overseas theatrical rights have been acquired by Moksha Movies and CineGalaxy. These two companies will also handle North American theatrical distribution. Specifically, regarding North America, the breakeven target is reported to be $2.5 million, which equals approximately 22.15 crores in Indian rupees.

Yes, you read that right! The breakeven target for Akhanda 2 is $2.5 million, which means the film must earn $2.5 million to avoid being a loss venture at the North American box office. After crossing the $2.5 million mark, it will embark on a profitable journey.

Needs 61% more box office collection than Daaku Maharaaj

Considering the hype, the breakeven target seems easy, but the Akhanda sequel will still need to maintain a good pace after a massive start. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s last theatrical release, Daaku Maharaaj, opened at $735K and concluded its run with $1.55 million. If compared, the Akhanda sequel will need to score 61.29% more than Daaku Maharaaj to achieve breakeven at the North American box office.

So, even after a record start, Akhanda 2 must enjoy a good word-of-mouth to become a profitable venture for distributors.
