Unlike his other co-stars from Student Of The Year, Sidharth Malhotra has not been lucky enough since the debut. Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, both proved their acting mettle much sooner in their career with films such as Highway, Badlapur and are already a rage amongst the youth. Sidharth on the other hand has been a bit behind in this rat race.
He was seen in two films post his big ticket debut, Hasee Toh Phasee and Ek Villain respectively. While the latter made it to the 100 crore club, one has to agree that it wasn’t for Sid’s exceptional act. Hasee Toh Phasee in spite of being a rom-com did not fetch much favorable reviews and wasn’t a winner for Sidharth on any front. His contemporary, Varun on the other hand has shown immense growth since the debut and Badlapur was a career-defining performance for him. The recent success of ABCD 2 also proved the same and his next, Dilwale with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol is certainly a high jump.
Sidharth is now all set for the release of his third film, Brothers alongside Akshay Kumar. Directed by Karan Malhotra, the film is a remake of Hollywood’s Warriors. No doubt, the actor has worked hard on his physique since the role required him to beef up and learn martial arts. While Sidharth will be seen in a ‘angry-man’ avatar in this film, we are expecting him to blow us away with his performance. It will be interesting to see if Brothers is the film that will give Sidharth a la Badlapur fame. The lad needs to pull up his socks soon and show us he is much more than a ‘Dharma’ guy.
His other upcoming projects include ‘Kapoor and Sons‘ with Alia Bhatt and Fawad Khan.
