South remakes are a staple in Bollywood. While several actors would think of watching the original film before working in the remake, Ajay Devgn seems to be a class apart. The actor is set to deliver an intense performance in the upcoming film Drishyam. The film is an official remake of a Malayalam film by the same name, starring Mohanlal in lead.

While the screenplay of the film remains the same, the new Drishyam has an urban touch. Hence when we asked Ajay about the difference in the two films, the actor quickly mentioned that he has not seen the original film.

Ajay says, “I didn’t want to get influenced. If there was a weaker actor who had done Drishyam I would have seen the film to understand what not to do. But if I would have seen Mohanlal, may be I would have got influenced since he is a fabulous actor.”

Both the original film & it’s South Indian remakes have been extremely successful thanks to their watertight script. Now, with Ajay’s earnest performance, looks like the Bollywood remake will score too.

Directed by Nishikant Kamath, the film also stars Tabu and Shriya Saran in key roles. Drishyam is all set to hit theatres on 31st July.
