Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia, who last directed Bullet Raja, is keen on making a film on Begum Samru. However the director is still hunting for the leading lady for his film.
A source close to the development revealed, “Tigmanshu is keen on making this film and he and his team is doing the research for it. The film is a bold concept and need an actress who is ready to go bold for the film. It’s a very unusual biopic. Though few actresses have rejected this film, Dhulia has still not given up and is still hunting for the leading lady for this biopic.”
The period flick is based on the life of Begum Samru, who started her career as a nautch girl in 18th Century India, and eventually became the ruler of Sardhana, a principality near Meerut. Later on, she played a key role in the political power struggle in 18th and 19th century India.
The maker had earlier approached Rani Mukerji for this film but she had turned down his offer. Later, he went to Kareena Kapoor with this script and reportedly she rejected this film due to extreme bold scenes in it. Well, who will finally be Tigmanshu’s Begum Samru we wonder!
