When a trailer begins with a traumatizing crooning of a nautch girl going ‘Julmi Re Julmi’, it is enough to indicate you have tripped into trouble! In its first look itself, Rajjo seems disastrous. And that isn’t very hard to point out. A dreamy eyed boy falling in love with a nautch girl, the trailer could easily pass for a B-grade film from the 90s.
The film used a nice prop to get publicity and that was slotting a same release date for it as Bhansali’s grand film Ram Leela. However, one glance through the trailer is enough to convey that the film has no substance. Kangana’s old, stale way of delivering dialogues with an expressionless face is what lingers all through the trailer. How the transformation from a dance girl to a married woman happens, is something the film will withhold for us.
But if enough of us have been fans of Zee-Cinema and have been jobless enough to watch random films in odd hours, you’ll sense of vein of this story easily! Rajjo will bring out real pain and real anguish from us because there is little hope – Kangana, Prakash Raj and Mahesh Manjrekar playing a eunuch can do. Aided with over-the-top, melodramatically spasms incurring dialogues in it – I echo Kangana’s words : Zulmi Re Zulmi…
