The story of Bullett Raja is straight out of Indian heartland and is in so many ways reminiscent of Vishal Bharadwaj’s Omkara especially since this is the first time since then, Saif has remotely resembled his Omkara face. Reflecting the same intensity and zest, the trailer of Bullett Raja despite all the metaphoric gravity defying is essentially intriguing for its imaginative setting!
The humor could be termed crude and flippant, but the trailer provides enough fodder for an engaging story with interesting dialogues! The action isn’t regular and has a more nascent taste to it. Both Saif Ali Khan and Jimmy Shergill are brilliant in their screen spaces delivering dialogues which have a resounding impact.
Perhaps the only hitch was Sonakshi Sinha’s track that somehow seemed quite a misfit. Since the actress proved her prowess so efficiently in Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera, it is sad seeing her pass as an actor’s aid yet again!
Saif still fresh from Omkara manages to pick up the dialect with ease and flair. One of the striking points of the trailer is the picturesque shots of the City of Joy. Calcutta’s favorite prop the Howrah Bridge is fascinating and the view of the Ganges enchants!
Bullett Raja is a commercial entertainer yet tries to take a unique route straying away from the likes of Singham or Dabangg or even Rowdy Rathore which picks up a similar vein of entertainment. Somehow the exclusivity of this film is how it builds the yarn differently from the clamored build of most commercial films these days! It creates promising premise that Tigmanshu Dhulia makes and knowing that he is the brain behind films like Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster and Paan Singh Tomar, Bullett Raja might just set a newer trend of commercial cinema in the domestic arena! Somehow, nothing can surpass the excitement of Saif fitting in again in his Langda Tyagi shoes!
